On Monday, February 18th, the Lady Warriors played their first district game against the Everton Lady Tigers. The district tournament is being held at Nevada High School this year. The Lady Warriors started off the game with a strong 15 point lead. At the half, the Lady Warriors were leading 35-10. Senior shooting guard, Courtney Bates scored her career high of 29 points. The Lady Warriors put up 73 points and held the Lady Tigers to 16. Their next game is Thursday, Februrary 21st in Nevada. They will be playing the Bronaugh Lady Wildcats for the semi-final game. On Wednesday, February 20th, the boys team played a postponed game that was set for the 19th against the Dadeville Bearcats. The Warriors dug themselves in a hole right off the bat. They were down 15 in the first quater but they weren’t about to give up just yet. They fought back in the second quater and closed the gap to two. The score was 25-23 at halftime. On a Warrior fastbreak at the end of the third quarter, senior guard, Riley Blanchette jumped to save the ball, came down, and landed wrong causing a compound fracture in his right shin. He will be out for the rest of the season. After seeing their teammate’s fall, the Warriors did nothing but. They came out on top with the final score being 54-50.
