On Wednesday Jan. 3rd, the Warriors played the 3rd seeded Wright County Warriors to open up play in the tournament. It was the first game back from break and it showed. McAuley started off pretty slow and Wright County did the exact opposite coming out with a 10-0 run to start the game. After getting a few buckets to go in, the Warriors got going and slowly fought their way back into the game only trailing by 4 at the half. Wright County led most of the second half but McAuley stuck around and put up a tough fight. All tied up at 55 the game went into overtime which consisted of 4 more minutes to play. McAuley was up by 2 on a go-ahead layup from Evan Metoyer with 10 seconds remaining but Wright County inbounded the ball quick and they got a 3 point shot to go in when it mattered the most. Wright County won in OT 63-62. The Warriors fall to 5-5 on the season and resume play on Friday night against the Jasper Eagles.
